UAW Makes Unprecedented Investment in Unite Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Today, Unite Kentucky announced that it has received a $10,000 contribution from the UAW Region 8 and the UAW International Union in support of its political organizing operations to mobilize Democratic voters on November 5.

“This investment by the UAW not only equips our organization to drastically increase its team of paid organizers in these last crucial weeks before the election, it also lays the groundwork for our mission of building long-term democratic infrastructure across the state,” said Unite Kentucky Executive Director Kyle West. “This is the most pivotal election I have seen in my career, not just at the top of the ticket but more importantly, for our state and local elections and the constitutional amendments we’ve got on the ballot. What my Metro Councilmember decides impacts my family’s day to day lives so much more than who's in the White House. That’s why it’s so crucial that we’re able to get more paid organizers into the field immediately and mobilize the democratic coalition here in Kentucky to make their voices heard at the ballot box.”

Unite Kentucky is hiring paid canvassers beginning immediately to expand its Jefferson County canvassing operation in advance of GOTV later this month. They are offering $50 for every 50 door packets completed, with no commitment and no limit to the number of packets available. This weekend, Oct. 12-13, the organization is kicking off a 25 day canvassing blitz to knock 10,000 doors. For more information, or to sign up for paid canvassing opportunities, go to Unite Kentucky’s Jobs page.
